INNOCENT BYSTANDERS!!!!

We were innocent bystanders at this event.... the boys wanted to go see the skateboard competition at the summer games. When we got there we were informed that skateboarding was last week and todays was inline skate , we stayed to see it anyways. Long story short, there was a kid who came all the way from Salt Lake to compete in the beginner's event and he turned out to be the only one competing in this group. One of the people working the event knew me, soooo, I called a friend of mine who lives near by, got some skates, borrowed a "bike" helmet, and $25.00 later Mason found himself competing for the first time ever in the Utah Summer Games.By the way Mason has very little experience on rollerblades let alone riding at the skate park on the half pipes and things. He was very brave and we are very proud of him! Now all my boys would like to learn and compete next year.....oh boy...

He must have gotten some awesome athletic genes from his father. Is his dad an olympian?

That is awesome. My kids did that sort of stuff too. They would go to the events and it looked like fun and there was not a lot of competition so they signed up on the spot. Plus you get a medal! He looked so good. Guess what? Masons skateboard is in my garage...the good news is that means we better get together again! Call me if you are coming down or I will call you if we go up.
I loved watching in-line skating and skateboarding in the summer games...if you can get past the VERY low pants, they are great athletes!

Good to chat with you (tho briefly). Sorry I didn't call on the way back...I was very sleepy. We'll chat soon. I want to hear stories, and you get to hear ALL about PHANTOM!!!
